Ruth Parker Valuer

Ruth Parker joined Hartleys eleven years ago.  The daughter of a specialist antiquarian book and print dealer, she grew up visiting the many Country House sales held during the 1960's and 1970's, naturally leading her to join the trade herself. After starting her professional career at a small auctioneer's in North Yorkshire, she joined Henry Spencers of Retford in 1988, which was eventually taken over by Phillips when she moved to the Leeds Saleroom to then become part of the Bonhams group.  Ruth specialises in ceramics and glass, silver, jewellery and bijouterie.  She has worked hard to establish a monthly Vintage Clothing and Accessories section where handbags, silk scarves, compacts, hats and fur coats are keenly sought after.  In her spare time she enjoys visiting Classic car meetings in one of her husband's classic sports cars, giving her the opportunity to wear many of her own vintage outfits!
