Manuscript poems by Samuel Clarkson, independent minister in Sheffield with later moves to Lytham (Congregational Church) and Ilkley recorded. First poem dedicates collection 'To my Wife' followed by Sonnets to the 'Memory of my Mother' Died Jan 1846. Stanzas on leaving 'Morton for College', several poems with journal publication details noted; 'In my Study at Sheffield'. Interesting poem to 'Benjamin Southwell; on his leaving "Spring Hill College" and going out as a missionary to Shanghai, China'. Poems about birth and death of first son; printed poems inserted.
