GEORGE STEPHENSON AUTOGRAPH LETTER, 1838, addressed to John Change, solicitor in Chesterfield, written by the railway pioneer George Stephenson from his home at Alton Grange, April 16th 1838. Single sheet of quarto sized paper laid down and framed; old folds. The letter concerns the great railway engineer's move from Alton Grange to Tapton House in Derbyshire and the problems surrounding the lease which Stephenson promises to resolve when he visits Chesterfield 'on Thursday next'
