A GEORGE III SMALL TORTOISESHELL TEA CADDY, c.1790, of canted oblong form, the press moulded ribbed tortoiseshell panels with ivory stringing, the fascia inset with a panel depicting a small blue glass(?) pillared mausoleum with twisted gilt metal wire "steps" enclosing a painted funerary urn on a sky blue painted ground within a mirrored frame and all enclosed by a reverse white painted slightly convex clear glass within a metal fillet, the reverse applied with an engraved silver shield (unmarked), the hinged cover with metal loop handle opening to reveal a plain interior, 4" x 2 3/4", 4 1/4" high (Illustrated) (Est. plus 24% premium inc.
