A FRENCH EARTHENWARE CASKET, 19th century, of serpentine oblong form, the fascia and sides painted in polychrome enamels with an extensive lake landscape within a raised gilt scroll border on a cobalt blue ground, the hinged cover similarly painted with a female artist showing a portrait of a gentleman to two young scantily draped pupils on a terrace, with gilt metal mounts and opening to reveal a padded and liner interior, cover signed Laucuq (?), pseudo Sevres mark in gilt, 5 1/2" wide
