OF SHAKESPEARE INTEREST - An Edwardian silver mounted inkwell, maker Fenton Bros. Ltd., Sheffield 1902, the end standards engraved "This piece of oak is part of a beam taken from Shakespeares' Birth-House during the alterations, AD 1857", the other with a verse from Hamlet, Act V, Scene II "... and this should teach us Thieves...", the rough hewn oak beam (4 1/2" x 2 1/4") hollowed out and encasing a green glass inkwell with matching silver collar, the plain stepped oblong mahogany base with brass stringing and slide base enclosing a mss. letter dated 1898 from George Berry, Auctioneer, Barrow in Furness, base 8" x 5 1/2" (Illustrated) (Est. plus 21% premium inc.
